Dog Obedience Training in Cove
From Pulling to Perfect Recall
With over 30 years of experience in training dogs by using the method of positive reinforcement, you can be assured of making rapid progress while bonding with your dog and having fun at the same time. Walking the dog twice a day might be keeping their body in shape, but they also require mental stimulation to stop boredom from setting in. Often, you may wonder why your dog doesn’t listen to you or why it is behaving in a particular way. Only when you understand how a dog thinks will you be able to answer these questions and put your newfound knowledge to proper use.
Basic obedience includes teaching the dog to stop pulling on the leash and to walk calmly by your side. Teaching the dog to sit first time upon command, learning to lie down on command and to also stand on command. The stay exercise is taught from the very beginning and is useful outside of the house in real-life situations. The dog is also taught to come immediately when called, regardless of any other distractions. This is another must-have for when you are out and about off-leash.
Personalised Dog Training in Cove
If You Love Them, Train Them
In all my years of training dogs, I found that a large number of owners, as well as their dogs, are just not comfortable in a group situation initially. For this reason, I travel to your home to provide one-on-one training to teach you how best to train your dog. I am not a veterinarian or an animal behaviourist. I am a dog lover with many years of experience in assisting dog owners to train their dogs in order to make life more enjoyable for both parties.
Your investment in a happier relationship with your dog begins with an initial one-hour consultation for just £50.00. Following this comprehensive assessment, each training session is £30.00, with absolutely no additional charges for travel to and from your home in Cove and the surrounding areas. Unlike many services, I'm not a clock watcher—I'm committed to ensuring each session delivers real progress rather than rushing to fit a rigid schedule. This straightforward pricing reflects my belief that quality training should be accessible to every dog owner who wants to improve their relationship with their pet.

Don't Give Up on Your Dog
They Haven't Given Up on You
Many of Garry's clients were at their breaking point before training, considering rehoming their dogs because of behavioural issues they felt were impossible to solve. Today, those same dogs are beloved family members whose owners couldn't imagine life without them.
Your challenging dog can become the companion you've always wanted. The first step is understanding how they think and communicating in ways they understand.
Contact Garry today to schedule your initial consultation and begin the journey toward a harmonious relationship with your dog. Remember that Garry will come to your home in Cove for 1-to-1 dog training.

Frequently Asked Questions
You don’t have to fit in with the time that a dog club offers training. Instead you can choose a time that suits your schedule. Not all dog owners want to join a large group of other people when they first start training, you don’t have to wait your turn and instead you now receive the personal and undivided attention of the trainer without leaving your home, not all dogs respond well to being in a group class with other untrained dogs. Having said all of the above, it is still vital to socialise your dog with other dogs and people, but this can be done gradually, once you are confident, and I will be available to assist and guide you through the socialization process.
Because dog training is my life, I am not a dog club or a franchise. I have 35 years of experience training dogs, and the business is me. I do it because I love dogs and the people who own them.
Garry offers his dog training services in Basingstoke and the surrounding areas. This includes, but is not limited to Old Basing, Chineham, Hook, Hartley Wintney, Fleet, Odiham, Oakley, Bramley, Sherfield on Loddon, Church Crookham, North Warnborough and Crondall.

From a puppy to a golden oldie.
Certainly. Whether a highly valued pedigree dog or a lovable X breed rescue dog. They all respond to training.
45 minutes to one hour depending on the progress made during the session. It is important that the dog finishes each session on a high and does not lose interest/focus.
No. I will be training you, and I will show you how best to train your dog.
I only use positive reinforcement, which means that we reward good behavior and rectify bad behavior.
Nothing surprises me anymore, but over the years, the most common issues have been dogs pulling the leash when walking, jumping up on people, biting/chewing, refusing to come when called, and many more.
Walking loosely on a leash, sitting, down, standing, staying, coming when called, focusing on the handler, and getting the dog into and out of the car safely.
The initial one hour consultation is £70 and the training thereafter is £40 per session. There are no additional charges for traveling to and from your home and I am not a clock watcher. Your hands-on training starts in the initial consultation.
I need to see the dog, its age, history, how long you have had it, whether you have owned a dog previously, what issues you have, and what you hope to achieve through training. We can then put in place a plan of action to achieve your desired goals. The initial consultation includes hands-on training.
The youngest person I have trained was a 9 year old girl and the oldest was a gentleman of 75. Both made remarkable progress, but obviously it helps if the dog is matched in size and temperament to the owner.
No long-term contracts are required. History has taught me that dog lovers tend to be the nicest people to deal with. If you no longer require my services or you have achieved your objective, we can stop at any time.
